The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
Published May 12th 2015 by G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers

My Rating: 4.4/ 5
Plot Summary: Khalid, the 18-year-old Caliph of the Khorasan, is a monster. Each day he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her neck the next morning. When Shahrzad’s best friend becomes his another victim, Shahrzad decides to stop this terror once and for all. She makes a plan and volunteers to be his new bride. Surprisingly she gets through the first dawn, by telling fairy-tales to the king. Soon she starts to get to know the king better and it turns out that behind the monster everybody sees is hidden a young man with a kind heart and a tormented secret. Shahrzad finds herself falling in love with Khalid. But can their love survive the world of secrets?
My opinion: This book is wonderful; it brings you the eastern atmosphere and makes you turn the pages non-stop as every chapter has a plot twist; you think you know the next move, but everything is not like it seems, this book will keep you excited till the very end and even then. Furthermore, I greatly enjoyed Shahrzad’s sarcasm & the writing style! Wish I had the second book!

My Rating: 4.5 / 5    (it is really hard to rate this book)

Plot Summary:  The world is nearly destroyed. There is little food, diseases multiply, birds became extinct and clouds are the wrong color. The Reestablishment keeps ensuring the people they will find a way to end this, but their promises are no more than mere words. Worldwide problems are so numerous, no one pays attention to 17-year old Juliette who has been thrown is prison as she is dangerous for society as her touch is lethal. She thinks she might go insane until new cellmate – Adam – appears. Some company changes her “black” days to “a shade of grey”.

May be she is not as monstrous as they think. Contrariwise – she is exactly what they need right now. She should choose now: be a weapon or be a warrior.

My opinion: I enjoyed this book & the writing style was wonderful. “Shatter Me” is a mix of “The Catcher In The Rye” and “Delirium”. It is told from Juliette’s point of view. However, the story left me a bit confused as I don’t know how to feel about the main characters — sometimes their behavior was illogical. But all in all, I can say this book was really good and trilling!

If you are a teenager and you like dystopia & romance, I recommend this one to you! 🙂

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

My Rating: 5/5

Plot Summary: Eleanor lives in a small house with her mother, crazy stepdad and three siblings. Park lives in a big house with his mom, dad and brother; his grandparents live in the house next door. Eleanor’s stepdad comes home drunk almost every day. Park’s parents love each other; they almost never argue and are very kind. Eleanor is a redhead and she is a bit fat. Park is Asian, his eyes are green and his skin is the color of sunshine. In the beginning of the academic year, Eleanor finds Park extremely weird; Park does find her weird as well…However, their love for comics & the same music bands brought them together.

My opinion: I love this book. It is absolutely wonderful and mesmerizing. It also has reminded me why I love reading so much. I would also like to praise the writing style: the story is told from both Eleanor’s and Park’s point of views, so you could get the perfect picture of their relationship. This love story is so gentle ❤ I want to say so much about this book, but it feels like words are not enough… you should read it yourself 🙂
